Well, I kept Isaak home for the past two days because he’s had this lingering cough for like a month. No other cold symptoms, just a dry, hacking cough. I got him in to a ped. yesterday who said it might be walking pneumonia or bronchitis, so she put him on an antibiotic. Took him to an allergist today, and he has no allergies (whooppeee!), but he showed a couple asthma red flags. He did this breathing test, then they gave him asthma medication and had him do the breathing thing again. The asthma “cut-off” is an increase production of 12%, and he was at 10%. So, again, not clear-cut. He wants us to get this over-the-counter breathing checker and do that for a month, and to wait until the antibiotic had a chance to kill anything that might be causing it, and then go back in a month. Sheesh. If it’s not one thing, it’s another with this kid! Oh, and his dry, bumpy skin is really bad and I should be putting special lotion on his twice a day. Like I’ll remember that. Oh well. He’s in really good spirits and has really loved being home (and not feeling yucky), so it’s been OK.

It made me feel (being home with him for two days) that I would love to homeschool. Obviously our finances couldn’t support it now, but maybe they will someday before he graduates. He was just so cooperative and helpful and pleasant today. It was really nice. I bet I could get a whole butt-load of work out of him in a short period of time. Oh, and he decided he wants to be a doctor, at least until he heard how much school is involved, so now he has to “think about it some more.” Funny boy.
